The European Commission’s Internal Audit Service (IAS) will hold its 2026 annual conference, “Internal Audit in motion: Keeping pace with a changing Europe,” on Friday 11 September 2026 at the Charlemagne building in Brussels.

Public administrations are operating in an increasingly complex environment shaped by evolving budgetary priorities, technological innovation and geopolitical uncertainty. Against this backdrop, the conference will explore how internal audit can adapt its skills, methodologies and strategic role to remain relevant and effective.

The programme will address key topics shaping the profession, including transformations in the EU budget and financial operations, the impact of technology and artificial intelligence on internal audit, and the contribution of internal audit to governance, organisational resilience and proactive risk management.

Two ECIIA Committee Chairs on the programme

ECIIA is pleased to see two of its Committee Chairs among the speakers:

Virpi Vuorinen
Chief Audit Executive at ING and Chair of the ECIIA Banking Committee

Soledad Llamas Tutor
Director of Internal Audit, Risk Management and Internal Control at Canal de Isabel II and Chair of the ECIIA Public Sector Committee

Virpi and Soledad will both participate in Panel 3 – “Organisational culture and adding value via internal audit”, taking place from 16:15 to 17:45 CEST.
