🌿 The European Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) will bring tougher rules for companies selling products tied to deforestation in the EU. Initially planned for earlier, the rules will now apply from December 30, 2025, and from June 30, 2026, for small and micro businesses.
Here’s a quick overview:
👉 What’s required? Products must be verified as deforestation-free, legally produced, and have a due diligence statement.
👉 What must companies do? Conduct risk assessments, have mitigation plans, and keep records for at least five years.
👉 What happens if you don’t comply? Fines up to 4% of your EU turnover, product confiscation, or trading bans.
👉 For small businesses: If your supplier already follows the rules, you just need to keep their records.
