The European Commission presented the Taxonomy complementary climate delegated act to accelerate decarbonisation.
The Complementary Climate Delegated Act:
- Introduces additional economic activities from the energy sector into the EU Taxonomy, including nuclear and gas activities as transitional activities;
- Introduces specific disclosure requirements for businesses related to their activities in the gas and nuclear energy sectors. To ensure transparency, the Commission has today amended the Delegated Act, so that investors can identify which investment opportunities include gas or nuclear activities and make informed choices.
Once the text is translated into all EU languages it can be formally adopted, and a four-to-six month scrutiny period for the Parliament and Council can begin running. Luxembourg and Austria have already announced they will take the Commission to court over the proposal.
