Public Affairs Committee

The Public Affairs Committee (PAC) consists of representatives of professionals who cover responsibilities in the major European Organisations both in the Private and Public Sector.

Roles and Responsibilities of the PAC

Ongoing

  • Develop and maintain list of key advocacy stakeholders at the European level.
  • Plan and execute selected advocacy initiatives towards defined key targets at the European level.
  • Update the European-wide Advocacy Data Base (EADB) regarding the status of planned advocacy initiatives at the European level.
  • Network with assigned Public Relations Coordinators of National Institutes to: stay abreast of national advocacy initiatives, encourage National Institutes to timely update the EADB, communicate on regional advocacy initiatives and mutually advise on advocacy opportunities at regional and national level.

Within the PAC the Public Affairs Officer is appointed with the role of actively promoting the profession of internal auditing trough selected p.r. actions towards legislators, regulators and other interest groups at the European level.

Serving as a regional liaison between the ECIIA Management Board and the ECIIA member institutes at the moment the role is covered by Marie Helene Laimay.

Annually

Consolidate relevant information available in the EADB, the PAC prepares the Annual European Advocacy Report. This report summarizes leading practices/areas for improvement, both at the European and national level. Subsequent to approval of the ECIIA General Assembly, it is sent to the Global IIA - Advocacy Officer /Director.

Governance Structure

The PAC reports to the ECIIA Management Board. The ECIIA President, or his/her designee (member of the Management Board), is the official ECIIA spokesperson for all advocacy related issues.

The PAC is composed of:

  • Eight Advocacy Coordinators, operating within the PAC’s roles and responsibilities (see above)
  • Two representatives of the ECIIA Management Board (incl. the VP), providing the necessary oversight to ensure that the PAC operates within ECIIA’s advocacy mission and strategy.
  • The Management Board nominates the PAC Chair.
  • The PAC Chair proposes the Advocacy Coordinators for Management Board approval.

Specific Tasks of PAC

The ECIIA PAC has the Specific Tasks to create an effective

  • Networking: Attending selected events meetings or other events organised by ECIIA’s key advocacy targets, aiming at building appropriate relationships as the foundation for effective advocacy initiatives.
  • Coordination with NI’s/IIA: Feeding the “Common European Advocacy Database” (to be established) with pertinent ECIIA advocacy information based on a regular review of this DB, mutually advising with NI’s on potential advocacy initiatives on both European and national level and liaising with IIA Advocacy Director and IIA Advocacy Advisory Group.
  • ECIIA co-organisation of advocacy related events: Communication in Position Papers, Press Releases, Conferences and organisation of forums/seminars on selected topics.
