Richard was President of the Institute of Internal Auditors UK & Ireland and before that worked in Internal Audit for many years. He was also a board member and is a Past President of the European Confederation of Institutes of Internal Auditing (ECIIA). In addition he is currently a member of the International Relations Committee of the Global IIA.
He worked for British Gas and its successor companies of BG Group and then Lattice. During this period he undertook various finance roles and was Head of Audit. This involved managing a worldwide audit division of up to 250 staff. He then became Head of Finance for the Transco Operations division of Lattice. This involved overseeing the preparation of monthly management accounts of a business with a turnover of approx. £1bn. He also devised and introduced the risk management processes used by British Gas and its successor companies.
Richard is currently a freelance trainer on internal audit, risk management and corporate governance activities. He provides both in-house and stand alone training courses and services to companies, professional institutions and government organisations. He was previously a director in a business services group which provided internal audit, risk management and corporate governance services and advice to the public and private sectors in the UK and overseas.
He is a member and Fellow of the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy, the Chartered Institute of Management and a Member and a Fellow of the Institute of Internal Auditors.
