In memoriam of Gerold Frank

Dipl.-Ing. Gerold Gottfried Frank

12.05.1930 – 30.01.2010

Gerold Frank was a founding member of the Institute of Internal Auditors Austria - IIA Austria (formerly Association of Internal Audit). After the founding of the association in 1981 he was quickly appointed to the board and until 2000 he was vice chairman. He was instrumental in establishing the institute, his priorities have included the organization of education and training for internal auditors, he was there when the Austrian Institute joined in 1992 the ECIIA and in 1996 the IIA. He worked in committees for the IIA, he supported the Central and East European countries and he also organized many years the preparation and holding of the CIA courses and examinations in Austria.

Gerold had many friends within the Internal Audit community in Europe, especially because of his competent, proactive and amicable work and behavior.

After completing his board work in 2000, he assisted the new board for some years, he was a valuable advisor with his many years of experience. Gerold Frank was also an honorary member of the Austrian Institute.

Private Gerold Frank was for decades married with Dr. Alix Frank and has three children and six grandchildren. Gerold was active in various functions, inter alia as a civil engineer and also as a senior member of Schlaraffia Grazia and the Evangelical Church of the Redeemer parish Graz.

We mourn the loss of a dedicated, helpful and fantastic friend and colleague and we will always keep him in our memory.
